Name + Instrument:
Gijs Koopman - Bass guitar en Moog Taurus bass pedals
King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator, Yes, Genesis, ELP, Pink Floyd, Camel, etc
Music before Ulysses:
Cliffhanger and Knight Area. I'm also involved in Sylvium.
How did the music virus got you:
I started playing bass in 1992. It started as a joke with some friends to start a band but no one could play an instrument yet. 3 months later I bought my first Rickenbacker.
What artist really inspires you:
I'm mostly influenced by Michael Rurtherford, Chris Squire and Geddy Lee. Due to the fact I'm an autodidact I developed my own style which is recognizable from the very first Cliffhanger album to my most recent work.
How did you join Ulysses:
Thanks to Facebook. Someone told me about Ulysses that they were still looking for a bass player. I knew them because we I did some gigs with them when I was still a part of Knight Area.
What does Ulysses gives you:
Personaly I prefer to more "dark side" of prog music. With Ulysses I'm able to reach depths were no man has gone before.
What strange fact do people probably not yet know from you:
Sometimes I'm totally messed up…
What other great passions do you have besides music (Ulysses):
Collecting lego sets from the 70's en early 80's, photography
What instrument do you use?
Rickenbacker basses and Moog Taurus bass pedals. TECH21 SansAmp RBI and RPM 19" pre-amps.
